What a riot ! I have stories of handing out the same treatment to my father as a toddler for crimes as grievous as a clean shave . .. behat mazedaar

Yes, I think children have very strong views about their father’s facial hair situations. They also got annoyed when I was working out and losing my paunch. But then I got lazy and they were fine again 🙂

So bloody funny! I was chuckling away. And then I remembered that time during the Covid lock down when my fully bearded husband decided to shave. Thankfully I was not on a holiday and he shaved in front of my daughter. We spent the next few weeks laughing every time we saw him. And then she made him promise never to shave again. Basically, I wanted to say, that I understand what you went through. So will you shave again? :D

This is hilarious and tender! 😂🌸 I can’t believe you had to explain your predicament to a highway cop. This should be a slice of life short film of of some type. Very endearing!

Tender indeed! If you were pitching this as “Dad takes daughters on a road trip and gets stopped at a border crossing” that would be factual, but not do justice to the story you’ve weaved. Loved how you’ve layered and revealed facts within the story—how the wife’s away, the nanny is Nepali, the girls are adopted so what began as a tender family outing, so familiar with the early start, the darn chips and the antyakshari ratchets up to a stressful day, I’d say even pre-ominous, encounter with bureaucracy even if well intended. And nature’s intervention as a dénouement—saved by the bell for the bathroom. Loved it. You kept me wondering where this was headed! Bravo. Keep on writing.

PS. The pre and post pictures reminded me of the stupid Zepto ad on shaving supplies that keeps playing on my phone!

This is so good. And the sketched stubble looks as good as real. Hah :D

Thanks Namit. The sketched stubble looks real, that’s why they warm up to me when I draw it. Anyway with such a blank canvas it’s quite easy to achieve haha.

This story is so full of heart and humour! I was smiling ear to ear while reading - and still am. I think it will take 5-10 minutes to stop.

Superb storytelling, Maanav. so much drama and humour. Loved it! And the bit about skin oozing like a Dali clock. Too good.

Thank you Rohan🙂. It was between Dali clock and melting cheese, and I felt Dali clock was a nicer phrase even if melting cheese is more accurate.
